Dave Santillanes & Chad Poppleton
5-day Workshop. For all levels.
Day one is in the studio with introductory slide shows, followed by a couple of days painting outdoors. Dave will focus on creating depth in landscapes, while Chad will focus on painting horses and other subjects from life.
Artists will learn to quickly gather the visual information needed to complete a painting in the field, with a primary focus on simplifying and interpreting color relationships. Values, shapes, and edges will also be covered.
The second half of the workshop returns to the studio, where you’ll design a studio painting from your plein air studies and photos taken on location. (Portable equipment and transpertation required.)
Dustin Payne & Alvin Marshall
Stories In Bronze. 5-day Workshop. For all levels.
This class guides students through creating a Western sculpture from first idea to a finished piece ready for the foundry. Starting with armature construction, students will develop strong, story-supporting compositions, then move on to proportion and anatomy, with special attention to the horse and rider. Surface treatment and finishing techniques are also covered, always with the bronze casting process in mind. Students will leave with a clear, practical understanding of every stage and a cohesive, story-driven piece prepared for the foundry.
Albin Veselka
From Study to Studio. 5-day Workshop. For all levels.
Great representational art starts with understanding light and form. Albin believes painting from life is the only way to gain that understanding, but too many artists struggle to carry their life studies into the studio. In this workshop, he’ll teach a method that blends those studies with photography to strengthen your more developed work.
C. Michael Dedash & Brandon Bailey
