Abstracting the Representational Subject: Laura Lanford I Local I Oil
Do you find yourself copying photos instead of creating artwork? Do you lack energy, mystery or boldness in your paintings? In this class, you will learn how to break down complex scenes quickly by seeing the most important large shapes in a reference. Learn to capture an initial structure of your subject quickly. Find four to six most important values, layer in bold color and break edges to create a dynamic painting. We will explore how to inject abstraction into your representational work using various tools (knives, credit cards, ceramic wedges, squeegees, sponges, stencils, blenders). FUN is required! Daily demos and individual instruction at each
easel. All levels welcome!
