Arizona’s Desert Designs, Colors, and Scenic Vistas: David Flitner | Local | Oil

Arizona Sonoran Desert vistas are unique! This class will focus on bringing light, depth, and color into the forefront of a useful desert painting process. Students will learn how targeted “seeing” and simplified large major areas work to create a strong painting structure. The artistic seeing of bold light, muted colors, and colorful neutrals will be explored to show off the Arizona landscape colors that are so fascinating. Helpful color mixing strategies will be demonstrated, explained, and woven into each student’s work. Students should bring a selection of their favorite landscape photos for reference. David will demonstrate in oil paint; acrylic painters are welcome but should have a working knowledge of their medium.
