BERNADETTE MILLS , Executive Director
Bernadette Mills, has worked in the non-profit arts sector for over 20 years. After graduating Penn State’s Integrative Arts program, she managed an arts and crafts studio in University Park, PA, worked in a fine art gallery in Stowe, VT, and was the Education Director for the Firehouse Center for Visual Arts in Burlington, VT. She and her husband, Dave, moved to Phoenix in 2004, and Bernadette worked for the Scottsdale Artists’ School for a few months before taking a position as the Program Director then General Manager of the West Valley Arts Council. She was with the Council for over 7 years. Bernadette and Dave expanded their family in the meantime to include Sophia (age 5) and Gabrielle (age 4).
WANDA STILLIONS , BUSINESS MANAGER
Wanda Stillions, Business Manager at Scottsdale Artists' School since May 2005, has a BA in Art Education from Northern Arizona University. Wanda's responsibilities include working with the Executive Director and the Board to Trustees to ensure the accurate and smooth flow of the financial business of the school. Prior to coming to the school, Wanda worked in the publishing industry, doing ad design, magazine layout and copy editing. Her love of art began with her grandmother who was an accomplished painter.
AUDREY LEMLER , EDUCATION DIRECTOR
Audrey Lemler is responsible for the development of the school’s curriculum. She attended Mills College in the San Francisco Bay Area before moving to Arizona. Before being appointed to her position as the Education Director, Audrey was the school’s Program Coordinator and ensured that instructors and students had everything they needed for a successful art experience.
MARILYN WHITAKER , REGISTRAR
Registrar for Scottsdale Artists' School, Marilyn Whitaker has a BA in Management from the University of Phoenix. She is responsible for registering students and working with the Executive Director to build enrollment. Prior to joining the School in August 2005, Marilyn was employed by Analysts International, contracting through them to the Chevron-Texaco Richmond Refinery and for Honeywell Industrial Automation and Controls. Her registration experience dates back to her early days as secretary-treasurer at a non-profit preschool in the Valley.
ROBERT CONOVER , OPERATION MANAGER
Robert “Robby" Conover has lived in the Scottsdale area for over twenty years. As Operations Manager, Robby takes care of everybody and everything from the studio arrangements to helping instructors, staff and students make the classes run as smoothly as possible. A special note about Robby, as a twenty year veteran of Scottsdale Artists’ School, he has seen it change from a small local art space into a thriving internationally acclaimed art school.
MIMI WASNESKI , FRONT DESK RECEPTIONIST, CUSTOMER SERVICE
Mimi Wasneski is responsible for front desk reception, customer service and retail sales. She traded the New Jersey snow, leaf raking and muggy summers to enjoy the blue skies and sun as a Scottsdale resident. Prior to joining the School, Mimi worked for 23 years as an administrative assistant at ITT in New York.
SHEILA JORDAN , FRONT DESK RECEPTIONIST
Sheila Jordan joined Scottsdale Artists’ School in 2000 and has been working at the front desk on nights and weekends. She also provides logistical support to the Education Director in preparing for workshops and classes. She grew up on one of the Great Lakes in Michigan, and moved to Arizona by way of California.
LINDA PULLINSI , Youth Academy Program Manager
Linda Pullinsi, Youth Academy Program Manager, began her art career in graphic design with a degree from Collins College and turned to fine art when her children were small. Linda is a juried member of the Arizona Watercolor Association and has served on their board. She has taught art for several years including running her own art school, Creation Station. An encouraging teacher, Linda has been a volunteer with Free Arts of Arizona for the past 14 years sharing the healing effects of the arts with abused and neglected children.
