SAS ARTISTS AT PHOENIX ART MUSEUM

Anyone can learn the ABCs of drawing or
painting in a weekend with SAS artists at Phoenix Art Museum

Ever want to draw or paint but didn’t know how to start or where to begin? Well anyone can do it now - beginning this weekend - even if you’ve never drawn a circle or put a brush to canvas!

It’s all part of a joint effort by Scottsdale Artists’ School and the Phoenix Art Museum to introduce the public to the wonderful world of art in an environment designed to inspire artistic creativity under the guidance of SAS’ professional artist-instructors.

“Anyone can learn the ABCs of drawing and painting in a weekend,” according to professional artist Carrie Curran, Youth Academy Director at Scottsdale Artists’ School. “Our goal,” she said, “is to introduce as many people as possible to the artistic side of art with SAS’ artists teaching the basics amidst 17,000 examples of the world’s best art.”

Included in the series of four SAS-PAM weekend art workshops are:

February 2-3, “Beginning Drawing,” with Larry Charles teaching.

February 16-17, “Getting to Know Color,” with Susan and Doug Diehl.

March 8-9, “Introduction to Oil Painting,” with Carrie Curran.

April 5-6, “Drawing the Head,” Robert Tracy Schacht teaching.

The workshops will be conducted by SAS artists in the art studios of the Phoenix Art Museum from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Fees for the weekend drawing workshops are $150 for PAM members and $180 for non-members. Painting workshop fees are $170 for Pam members and $200 for non-members. There is also a $10 registration fee for any or all of the workshops.

For registration, call Scottsdale Artists’ School at 480-990-1422 or scottsdaleartschool.org.

Phoenix Art Museum is located at 1625 N. Central Avenue at Central and McDowell.
