John Michael Carter
John Michael Carter John Michael Carter began his first studies in drawing at the age of 16 with his father. After attending the American Academy of Art in Chicago, he went on to the Art Center College of Design, graduating with a BFA in 1972. For ten years Carter taught drawing and painting for the University of Kentucky at Jefferson Community College, as well as being a frequent guest instructor at art workshops across the country. Since 1975 he has had more than 30 one-man shows and participated in many prestigious group exhibitions and national competitions. In 1988 he was one of four top award winners at the Arts for the Parks competition, and he was one of 50 artists selected to show at the 1991 Hubbard Museum Award for Excellence. John's portraits include governors, senators and university presidents, as well as corporate and civic leaders.
