John Poon has been a working artist for the past 20 years. He graduated from the Academy of Art College in San Francisco, winning numerous student awards and scholarships. After graduation, Poon stayed on at the Academy as an instructor of painting and drawing. He eventually served as Director of Foundations overseeing Freshmen Drawing, Color and Design classes.
Among his numerous professional awards and honors are "Best of Show" from The Society of Western Artists; Arts for the Parks Annual National Juried Exhibition "Landscape Award of Merit;" and the Sonoma Plein-Air "Artist Choice Award." His paintings can be found in numerous public and private collections across the country. He now makes his home in Jackson, WY, with his wife and five children. He spends his time painting full-time, teaching and displaying his work throughout the country. He is represented by Legacy Gallery in Scottsdale and Jackson, WY; Walls Gallery in NC; Garden Gallery in Half Moon Bay, CA; and Mountain Edge in Santa Fe, NM.
