Joseph Lorusso believes “truly great art serves as a trigger into something much deeper within us.” The mood and emotion conveyed in his paintings evoke a deep sense of beauty found in reflective moments. His people are mysterious, romantic, lonely and yet familiar, placed in settings where we may often find ourselves. A native of Chicago, Lorusso trained formally at the American Academy of Art, and received his degree from the Kansas City Art Institute where he also served as instructor of painting and illustration. His works, recognized for this strong sense of emotion and confident brushwork and design, have been featured in Southwest Art, American Artist Magazine, and U.S. Art. He is represented by galleries in Scottsdale, AZ; Santa Fe, NM; and Kirkland, WA.
