Description: The simple, abstract beauty of line, when combined with accurate values and thoughtful edges, is one of the most beautiful mediums of human expression. The aim of this course will be to give students both a sound understanding of how to become an excellent draftsman, and time to practice doing what they learn. We will cover: 1. How to handle the charcoal medium 2. Basic approaches, methods, and skills fundamental to drawing from life 3. What makes things (especially drawings) beautiful? The bulk of class time will be spent working from life. Class time will also include demonstrations by the instructor, and individual student critiques. Beginners and intermediate-level artists are welcome as this class shows the simplified steps to achieving life-like drawings. Charles demonstrates each technique, then provides individual attention to each student as they draw their way through still life set-ups, location scenes, and figures in a variety of poses.
